I think my favorite pets were our dogs Lady and Sadie. I remember how Lady's nose was scarred on the top and how we loved her so much. I also remember that Sadie was a pretty, dark, Collie and we loved her, too. One of them nipped at a neighbor and we had to get rid of her. We all cried and cried. I also remember having chickens. Todd Lesher chased and accidentally stepped on one and killed it. I think we named it lightning (I'm not sure why since it wasn't fast enough to out run Todd). I remember having ducks or geese that were MEAN. We would look out the screen door in the back and when we thought we had enough time to make it to the tramp, we would open the door and run as fast as we could, trying to get there before getting pecked! I will also never forget having calves in the shed. Kirks cow, Maynard, got sick and he would play classical music to it hoping to help the little calf get better. I think it lived and was later taken up to StarValley....probably to be sold for someones food storage (ironic right?)
Honey was my very favorite pet. When mom was tired of me not wanting to sleep in my room alone, she brought home the cutest sweetest little puppy for me to sleep with. What a smart mom. (I would have just turned the lock to the outside and locked me in! Not mom, she was always nice.) Honey slept with me from 2nd grade until the day I moved away to college. Our miracle dog increased the faith and testimony of prayer for many people on many occasions. She was just what I needed. Thanks, mom.
